Violent freaks? That is ironic coming from a group that stands around just to shout "scum" at passers by over and over again. Won't someone be arrested for those drones though? Ah what a gang of overly-dramatic, obnoxious morons this lot are.

Also, nice picture of St Thomas More, considering the day Hibernicus.

Well, in all honesty I didn't actually look at them as such, just kept staring ahead with a sort of fixed rictus that probably looked kind of manic. That and the sunglasses. Yeah, maybe that's why they left me alone ? Was talking to my mate who'll be stewarding. They had a meeting with the organisers recently and the emphasis will be on moving people along and not letting the march get fragmented, due to the road disruptions for the tram lines, which of course weren't a feature previously. He said they have no idea how many will turn out. Our bus from Louth will be full, anyway, and some latecomers couldn't be accommodated but they'll make their own way.

Folks, just a word of warning for those going to the rally today. There is a demonstration also going on in support of Greece as well today, which may include a few pro-aborts. Be careful and don't let yourself be provoked: www.rte.ie/news/2015/0704/712584-greece/

The Pro-Life rally didn't cross paths with the Greece one at all. I didn't think it was too bad this year. A few mouthy prats here and there, but nothing to be bothered over. Unfortunately it doesn't seem like the place you can really dialogue on the issue (not that anyone would really be willing to change their minds). For e.g., I believe an old lady engaged a young pro-abortion man (and seconds later a woman), and I'm not entirely sure what happened, but moments later I heard "Pro-Choice" being chanted. I'm not sure if that means if they decided to start shouting over the woman, or if the lady walked off before they started, but either way you can't really engage the opposition which I find annoying (not that I'm a charismatic debater or anything).

I'll post my own impressions of the march on the "Pro-Life" thread as I usually do for demonstrations I attend. It might be better to carry on the discussion there and leave this thread for event announcements. St Thomas More got the nod this month because he was executed on 6 July (though I believe his feast is in June, jointly with St John Fisher on the date of Fisher's death) and I like to put up saints who have some connection with the month (though I don't make this a strict rule). I'll try to give some thoughts on him in the "Saints" thread sometime soon. As regards the Greek demo, several of the pro-choice ranters were indeed wearing OXI-SOLIDARITY WITH GREECE badges, but I saw at least one pro-lie marcher wearing an identical badge. Euroscepticism can make strange bedfellows.

We've had to postpone Saturday's meeting of the G.K. Chesterton Society of Ireland. The Central Catholic Library has just learned of a festival happening in their vicinity on Saturday and have decided it's best to stay closed on that day.
We have rescheduled for Saturday 25th of this month, again at twelve p.m, again in the Central Catholic Library. The text for discussion is still the first three chapters of Heretics.

Really? Are they worried that they'll be thrashed or something?

Ha ha! No. Apparently the east and south sides of Merrion Square will be closed to traffic, so they decided not to open.

I have to say, I'm at a loss as to why anyone went to the trouble of inviting (and paying for ) Jamie; he hardly has a track record of working for the traditional Latin Mass and he has some, let us say, interesting ideas about Catholicism and politics which may or may not have support in the context of St Kevin's in Harrington St. I would put this down as something well worth missing.
