Hi My name is Kelly. Sorry if this is a bad place to post this, but I really wanted to introduce myself and I didn't find s designated place to do so. I live in the USA, but my family is Irish and Roman Catholic. We live in a really neat Irish area of Wisconsin. You may have heard of Holy Hill... holyhill.com/Anyway, I live near this amazing basilica. It is beautiful! I always have the same username on every forum, but I chose "flynncreek" specially for this one because there is a creek that runs by Holy Hill that is named after my ancestors. I'm glad to finally be accepted (took a while...but that's ok) God Bless!

Welcome and hope you enjoy the discussion. Your link doesn't seem to work. Here's Wikipedia for an intro to the shrine's history. It was built in the C19 on a site associated with early Jesuit missionaries. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Holy_Hill_National_Shrine_of_Mary,_Help_of_Christians

It is a beautiful place to visit, especially in the summer. The vast majority of pilgrims are Hispanics from Illinois. They have a special mass in Spanish every Sunday for them. They also have outdoor stations of the cross which are really neat!
In winter, there is often frozen fog on the hill and it glistens, sometimes with hoar frost. It is so pretty! So really any time of the year is great to go.
