Thank you all for your prayers, which are and will be greatly appreciated. I will only be posting occasionally for the next couple of weeks.

I'd ask your prayers for Monsignor William Cleary, Pastor Emeritus of Tullamore and Vicar General Emeritus of the Meath diocese who died on Sunday. I can't boast to be his most ardent supporter - we could be in the same café over coffee with him reading The Tablet while I was reading something much more incendiary. But he remained active to the last minute, working as a curate through his retirement and I know the concern he had for the parishioners he worked with across the diocese, which is consists of two and a half counties (Meath, Westmeath and much of Offaly) and bits of several others (even a piece of County Dublin, believe it or not).
Requiescat in pace.

One very revealing detail of that SUNDAY INDEPENDENT obit is that when it describes him as "a devout Catholic" it mentions only his opposition to abortion and divorce and not his attachment to the EF Mass and the SSPX; in other words the SINDO instinctively sees "devout Catholicism" only in terms of sexual morality and not the wider faith. This is an interesting example of Latin Mass traditionalism being associated with wider nonconformity, especially given that many trads (I suspect at least some in the SSPX) see corporal punishment as a positive good and opposition to it as a denial of original sin.

No obituary for Dr Cyril Daly in last Saturday's IRISH TIMES either - to be fair, they can sometimes take weeks after a person's death to publish an obit.
Anyone who has been following Rod Dreher's blog recently will know that his father has just died at an old age after a long illness, (though he remained compos mentis pretty much to the end). This is a situation which many of us have faced or will face. Pray for the Drehers.

The latest issue of the CATHOLIC VOICE mentions that Kim Murphy has suffered severe and permanent vision loss as a result of illness. Your prayers are requested for her and her family

I should in fairness mention that the IRISH TIMES did publish an obit for Dr Cyril Daly early in September. I didn't note it at the time because I was away from home and not posting.

I'm requesting prayers for a friend of mine. She has to decide some things, so I'm hoping people will pray for her guidance from God. Also she's an atheist, so if people could offer a prayer for her to be influenced by the Holy Spirit, I would greatly appreciate that. Thank you.
