A five days SILENT retreat for men of the traditional Spiritual Exercises of Saint Ignatius of Loyola (fonder of the Jesuits) is coming to Ireland in July. It is a UNIQUE opportunity to attend this retreat made and preached according to the very core of the book. This retreat will change your life. On demand, TLM will be celebrated. This retreat is preached by Traditional Benedictine monks. A previous retreat last year had demonstrated a real success. Once again do not miss this opportunity to attend this retreat as it is extremely rare in Ireland. Follow this link : www.clairval.com/retraites.en.phpAnd to know more : en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spiritual_Exercises_of_Ignatius_of_LoyolaGod Bless You ! Saint Patrick pray for us !

Guillaume, Do you know the history of Clairval other than whats is on their website? It seems they were founded in Switzerland 1972 and then moved to Flavingy and were housed in the old Minor seminary there 1976. In 1988 the wyere accepted as a monastery of diocesan right. I have a suspicion they may have been Lefebrist for a time but its only a suspicion. I know that their conventual Mass is in the Ordinary Form but celebrated in the traditional manner and that most of the monks low masses are according to the extraordinary form. It would be wonderful if they could make a foundation here but the Irish have traditionally shied away from everything except Cistercian Monasticism.

No there is no link between the Monks and the SSPX. Except, that the village of Flavigny, where the Abbey is, host as well the "little" seminary of the SSPX ! Yes there conventual mass is Paul VI in latin and versus God. However it is true that they celebrate their "individual" mass according to the 1962 Missal. Indeed, we need this kind of monastic spirituality in this island. I do not really know the situation of monastic life in Ireland, I doubt it is as good as before...

If we want Cistercians, we'll have to look at Mariawald as a solution.

I visited the area around Mariawald Abbey when in Germany a few years back. A lovely area of the country. We were only there very briefly though.

How do they relate to the existing Cistercian houses in Ireland?

I have this book of spiritual excercises and would love to attend this retreat, but your link that you provided is not working on my computer and when I click on it it says ''Not found'' please give me more info upon it so I may attend.
The Society of Jesus way of prayer resonates that of the Eastern Hesychastic life and I love it, so please I'm praying that you get back to me soon

And to all : nothing to do with Cistercians and Jesuits. Those monks are Benedictine.
