According to the apostle Paul, 1 Corinthians 15:1-4
1 Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand;
2 By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain.
3 For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;
4 And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:
Christ died for our sins, was buried and rose again. That's the only gospel by which you are saved when you believe it.
Eph 1:13 In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise,
In Paul's day he preached the gospel given to him by Christ.
Gal 1:12 For I neither received it of man, neither was I taught it, but by the revelation of Jesus Christ.
They heard the gospel, believed it, and were sealed and saved.
Paul states In Galatians that he did not received this gospel from man.
Gal 1:11 But I certify you, brethren, that the gospel which was preached of me is not after man.
It is vital to see this distinct doctrine from Paul who met Chist.
Paul states if someone comes and preaches another gospel let them be accursed.
Gal 1:8 But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed.
Gal 1:9 As we said before, so say I now again, If any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed.
Salvation must come first to any person before doctrine. Otherwise it promotes debate and controversy and leaves souls tossed to and fro.
1Co_2:13 Which things also we speak, not in the words which man's wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual.
So there you have the gospel by which you must be saved, having trusted Christ death for our sins, His burial and resurrection as the gospel of your salvation.
