This Sunday October 2nd is the Day for Life in Ireland. I requested a novena card offered free from fand@iol.ie (Family & Life) and was sent it the following day. They accept donations. I'm sure they'll send them out just as promptly next week if you request one. Anyway, since this is not a Catholic issue alone I'm going to reproduce the novena here for those who wish to pray for this issue in solidarity with others.. where two or more are gathered...
Each day;
O Mary, bright dawn of the new world, Mother of the living, to you do we entrust the cause of life. Look down, O Mother, upon the vast numbers of babies not allowed to be born. Grant that we may listen with open and generous hearts to every word which proceeds from the mouth of God. Thus we shall learn not only to obey the commandment not to kill human life, but also to revere life, to love it, and to foster it. Amen. Followed by a decade of the Rosary.
Day one;
For all the unborn babies.
May all babies be blessed with the love and acceptance of a father and mother from the day of their conception, however unplanned they may be.
Day two;
For women facing a crisis pregnancy;
May they realise the beauty of the new life within them, and accept the baby with serenity, despite the challenges. May they find wise advice and generous practical help.
Day three;
For priests and church leaders. May they find the courage to proclaim with love the Gospel of Life, especially in defence of the unborn. May its truth inspire them.
Day four;
For legislation and judges
May those who govern our country ensure the wise and just laws defend the life and dignity of all human life - born and unborn.
Day five;
May educators honour the truth and teach their students respect, for themselves, for others, and for the unborn.
Day six;
For medical and media
May all who work in healthcare respect the dignity of unborn human life. May those in the media present the truth about the Culture of Life.
Day seven;
For pro-life supporters
May many more people support the efforts of Family & Life to defend the dignity of unborn human life, and may they be blessed for their generosity.
Day eight;
For life saving projects
May all pro-life projects find the support they need to succeed in saving innocent lives and winning hearts and minds for the cause of human life.
Day nine;
May the staff and volunteers of Family & Life be strengthened in their work in defence of human life and the family, despite the challenges they face.
