Have recently discovered Spirit radio. Great music & vulgar free commentary. Well worth supporting.

I'm more of a Lyric FM woman myself, Liz Nolan is the one for me. What music do they play on Spirit? I can't bear happy clappy Christian music, but it would be nice to hear chart music without the twittering of dozy djs. What *can't think of the word* - frequency? number? dial on the thinggy on the radio? Sorry, it's going to be a long week and I'm already tired.

Is Spirit Radio on medium wave band? I find that there are also many good programmes on BBC Radio 4. Newstalk can be dreadful as regards matters of the faith but apart from the 'spirit of the times' much of it must be down to simple ignorance.

Spirit Radio plays mainly " contemporary " music. Usually positive/Christian orientated. It's frequency is Dublin FM 89.9, but it broadcasts countrywide. It's site is spiritradio.ie. Well worth looking up.

I had a listen to it the other evening Los Leandros and it isn't bad at all. I'm a loyal soul so lyric is my first choice but I will definitely listen to it again, and regularly. I like the fact that there was a Word for the Day and that the commentary, as you stated is vulgar free, or more to the point it is professional. Sometimes djs cross boundaries that shouldn't be crossed with acquaintances, never mind strangers. They hold that boundary. The music isn't memorable but neither is it lift music. I wonder how they choose their playlist, there are so many more genres they could play. I wonder who funds them? The other thing that struck me was the self confidence and optimism of the station. There is a real market for a Catholic station like that, full of optimism and positivity and leave the criticism to other Catholic media outlets. It would be lovely to hear Catholicism projected with equal self-assurance without the "batten down the hatches" mentality which can be tiresome. We have the complete Truth, we should be ecstatic! Thank you for the recommendation.

I have it on the telly but have been considering getting a DAB radio, I think that's what it's called.

Glad you liked " Spirit " radio, banaltra. I have reasonably catholic tastes & would also listen to classical music, folk etc. Given my antipathy to RTE, I would even be wary of supporting Lyric. I suppose that's taking my paranoia to extremes. Enjoy the music.

I'm just looking at an ad here in The Irish Catholic for 100% Christian Radio from Friday to Sunday, September 9th until November 13th. Although available 24/7 on channel 918 on UPC and channel 0214 satellite or available on ucbradio.ie.
On the wireless, fm, it's 94.3 here in the capital, 106.7 in the real capital (Cork), 89.5 for Galway, 103.8 in Waterford/Wexford an 105.5 in Limerick.
