This is currently the most popular article on the Irish Times site: www.irishtimes.com/newspaper/ireland/2010/1113/1224283236782.htmlDoes anyone here read the Furrow? How widely read is it? A local priest described it to me as the Irish equivalent of the Tablet, but judging from what I've read, it's a lot more dry (the Pill is at least provocative), and the small size makes it especially awkward to read. I've actually been going through back issues of the publication from the 50s and even then it seemed progressive by the standards of the time.

The FURROW is aimed at professional theologians - the TABLET aims at a more general readership. That would be more like the happily deceased CEIDE.

I don't know. The comments quoted in the Irish Times piece seem pretty facile to me.
CĂ©ide I think aspired to be the Irish version of The Tablet. And failed miserably.

The Association of Irish Priests predictbly rushed out to defend this man, and insinuated its own dissent from the teaching without saying it in so many words. Yet more proof of their unsoundness, if such were needed.
