Hi all, Just to let you know that there will be a rosary procession on Mon Dec. 8th after 5.45 mass in St. Theresa's Clarendon St. Dublin proceeding to St. Saviour's Dominic St. Also in Kilkenny leaving The Parade at 8.00pm on same date proceeding to the Black Abbey. Our lady's intercession for the whole Church and society was never more needed. Cork procession also but I don't have details to hand.

This thread may be as good as any other to call attention to this site maintained by NUI Maynooth which collects material relating to confraternities and similar organisations _ i am afraid in the spirit of treating it as ancient history. Still it should interest readers of this board. www.irishconfraternities.ie/

You're an historian, Hibernicus. When I see Louise Fuller's name there, I fear the worst. ;D

Besides, as traditionalists we do need to cultivate a degree of historical awareness - otherwise we may tend either to take refuge in fantasies of an idealised past or to wind up replicating its errors along with its achievements.

Don't forget it is that time of year again. Has anyone got any news of Rosary processions planned around the country? (The weather won't help, I fear).

I won't make it to any Rosary processions this year, so here is an offering: Hail Queen of Heaven, The Ocean Star, Light of the wanderer here below. Thrown on life's surge, We claim thy care, Save us from peril and from woe. Mother of Christ, Star of the Sea, Pray for the wanderer Pray for me. O gentle, chaste, and spotless maid, We sinners make our prayers to thee. Remind thy Son that He has paid The price of our iniquity. Virgin most pure, Star of the Sea, Pray for the sinner, Pray for me. Sojourners in this vale of tears, Our Advocate, to thee we cry Assuage our sorrows, Calm our fears, And soothe away our misery. Refuge in grief, Star of the Sea, Pray for the mourner, Pray for me. And while to Him who reigns above, In Godhead one, in Persons three, The source of life, of grace, of love, Homage we pay on bended knee. Do thou, O Queen, Star of the Sea, Pray for thy children, Pray for me. Here is a link to a Youtube version, sung by some elderly Redemptorists. If it seems gloomy, remember it was written in a world without anaesthetic and modern medical care - and also that no-one has found a cure for (temporal) death. Brian Moore the novelist used to sneer at "Remind thy son..." Obviously somone who never (for example) reminded his wife that he loved her. We used to sing this hymn at school and I hope it will be sung at my funeral. www.youtube.com/watch?v=gwcEb7Jgp9s&feature=related

It's that time of year again - if you have details of Rosary processions for the Feast of the Immaculate Conception post them here.
