I've been relieably informed that a successor to the late Fr Alan Wilders at St Patricks Academy, Islandeady, Co Mayo has been found. He is Fr Jean-Pierre Pilon former chaplain at Chavagnes International College in Vendée region of France. Fr Pilon is in his early 30s and is Canadian(?).

A young traditional priest providing a focal point in Mayo. What is Fr Pilon's standing, though? I hope he is not SSPX.

SSPX? Oh good Lord no Michael!! He's a priest of the diocese of Scranton Pennsylvania-whether he has been incardinated into the Archdiocese of Tuam I don't know. I've met him before and hes a very nice fellow and a good priest to boot. Apparently at Chavagnes International College he was in favour of turning it exclusively Old Rite but that didnt sit well with the management of the school. A dyed in the wool Trad. Deo Gratias.

He also has a background in education from his days in Canada previous to entering seminary.

On reflection I have decided to delete a post as it might lead to difficulty, and consequently have also deleted another post referring to it. This decision does not imply any reflections on anyone.
