Happy Easter to you all! Every day of the coming week is a feast day as we are celebrating Easter Week - each day is a like a Sunday so no fasting. Among many other matters, my beloved Fr Leon speaks here about the value of fasting. It is a stumbling stone for many but need not be. I hope you enjoy the whole piece. Fr Leon has an engaging manner. It is my Easter gift to you. May the joy of the Risen Christ fill your hearts youtu.be/0gb4FJx4kTQ?si=8hTlWaQGXxti0GXt

Happy Easter all!
"We are the Easter people and hallelujah is our song !" - St. John Paul II
A bit of current trivia, it's probably been happening for some years without me noticing, but apparently, it's now considered very offensive by many to use the word Easter on Easter Eggs, so quite a few manufactures have dropped the word. Checking the family's haul of Easter Eggs this year, some of the humble Cadbury's offerings thankfully still have the word easter somewhere on the packaging, but none of the "higher" end eggs, including the Irish ones, have allowed the word easter to besmirch their sophisticated packaging. Next year for fun as part of my egg hunt, and in my personal bit of tiny resistance to the man, I'll be more diligent in seeking out only eggs that still have the word easter on the packaging somewhere, if such an egg will still exist in the future. In the new spirt of the season, the Iceland chain of supermarkets are currently trialling a new kind of hot cross bun which has a more inclusive tick on the top of it instead of the traditional cross. (No, this post is not an April fool's one.)
On a more positive note, was great to see quite a few baptisms at our local Easter vigil mass, including older children and adults.
Looking forward to the rest of April, the month of the Blessed Sacrament. I try to tie in most of my book choices and reading material to the Catholic month of the year, so if anyone has any good book suggestions that tie in with this month or future ones, please feel free to suggest them. God bless.

I know I should be thinking of the festive season right now, but after reading this I am going to examine the Easter Eggs in the house, at least one of which came in an expensive packaging to see what's an Easter Egg and what isn't.
