Pope Benedict XVI has announced the next Eucharistic Congress will take place in Dublin in 2012.
Does anyone have any suggestions of what might be done?

I only know Dublin from the Latin Mass once a month. If the EC was going to be run like that I wouldnt mind. I cant see that happening.
More than likely its going to be a bigger version of the Easter ceremonies and theyre rubbish!
In my experience its a waste of time sitting in and hoping to make an impact. Im not schimatic or anything but I think the best thing to do is to stay away and say my rosary.

Yes spoken like a true Catholic- you'll probably find more friends in the High Anglican communion-they do the same or the Pixies!

Have any dates been announced for the Congress yet? It'd be great if the pope chose to come to Ireland then! In Nomine Christi

CPM, I'm not aware of anything planned as yet but if His Holiness were to come what a blessing that would be- a flight of fancy maybe but we live in hope! ;D
What is essential I think is that all groups that promote the extraordinary use, use this opportunity to give good example on Catholic piety and practise-other Catholics are woefully in need of good example in this regard.

I wonder if anyone (like LMSI) has approached the organisers about including Mass in the Extraordinary Form in the Congress.

It would be a wonderful occasion if we had a Eucharistic Congress in Dublin, eighty years after the last one.
It would be a great opportunity to revitalize the Church.
Preliminary discussions would help involvement.

Immediately plan and prepare a procession by faithful Catholic led by the Bishop and all his Priests through a route through the city of Dublin prior to the Eucharistic Congress my perhaps a week, that will prepare the entire population for the reception of the Sacramental Summit. This will draw the attention of everyone in the city and not only Catholic which is the desire of God, "That none of them will perish".

The vatican has celebrated mass in Latin in the New order and it is celebrated quite reverently. Remember that the problem with the new mass is not so much the mass itself but the way it is celebrated It goes quite beyond reverence. A substantial section of the worshipping Catholic population internationally are attached to the older liturgical forms; pontifical legislation grants these people rights in this respect; and it is fitting that the EF Mass is included in the Eucharistic Congress.
