Your prayers are requested for the repose of the soul of Dolours Price, the former "Old Bailey bomber", who has died. I am not saying this out of any sympathy for her politics - none whatsoever. Just say a prayer for her.

Your prayers are also requested for the repose of the soul of Josef Cardinal Glemp, who died on Wednesday. I remember how often he was in the news when I was a teenager at the time Solidarity was repressed. I saw him once - I happened to be walking past St Audoen's when a ceremony was being held to mark its conferral on the Polish Chaplaincy, and wondered who was the Cardinal but did not find out until I got home. As a slave labourer under the Nazi occupation, and as a priest and bishop under Communist rule, he experienced hardships which we were fortunately spared in this country. Not all he did and said was above criticism, but this is not the time for that. His labours are now over. RIP and condolences to our Polish brethren, here and in Poland.

Your prayers are requested for the soul of Margaret Thatcher, who has died. I know that many people, myself included have misgivings about some of her actions, however, God's mercy has no limits to those who seek it.
