Woah, Askel, that is heavy. It is a bit. Is there a history we don't know about? There is a disedifying side to the provision in Dublin...and it seems that this has not evaporated. EDI have always been a sort of in-house opposition through St Paul's/St Audoen's and I don't think this has abated in St Kevin's.

I am very curious, but I will second CPM's call for prayers for Fr Deighan. I think he would welcome them in any circumstance - as would all the other clergy in Ireland saying the TLM.

The reason I requested prayers is because Fr Larkin (current PP in Harrington Street) is being moved and Fr Deighan has been appointed Adminstrator of St Kevin's. The parishioners are a bit put off to say the least by us latin mass goers. So it will be a rocky road for next few weeks in St Kevin's. Prayers Please, In Nomine Christe, CPM

This means we will not have Dublin visitors for the High Mass in S. Patrick's Belfast on the same day, I presume.

Last year's Assumption Day Mass got 300 worshippers. Trouble is that there is a certain rent-a-crowd there coming to hear the Schola Gregoriana, who know what they are doing.

But shouldn't we mention Newtownmountkennedy here? It is part of the diocese.

I don' t think there were 300 this year, though for obvious reasons of reverence I didn't do a precise count. The Mass was beautifully sung, but I wish the celebrants would join in instead of sitting beside the altar while the choir sings some parts of the Mass text!
This does not of course affect validity or anything like that, since the central parts were said by the priest, but surely the priest is supposed to say the whole Mass? He should IMHO lead the choir not defer to it.

Above message of course refers to Belfast and is just following on from Alasdair's remark.

Choir-driven Masses will always be problematic.
