Dear Members,
I thought it may interest you to know that the moderator at this site, CPM, deleted not only the membership, but also the contributions of members Inedifix and Hemingway on Wednesday 29th of October 2008.
Neither member breached the rules of the forum nor were they given any warnings about any thread they started or contributed to on the site.
The usual procedure if someone breaks the forum rules is to give them a warning and if they continue to break the rules then they receive a ban.
However this DID NOT happen in the cases cited above.
For the moderator to completely eradicate any evidence that either poster even made a contribution to this site is almost unbelievable and betrays a severe lack of confidence on the part of the moderator regarding this forums members ability to debate intelligently on some of the questions posed by the deleted members.
Esentially now this is a closed club where back-slapping and self congratulatory posts will fly to and fro and one can assume that little meaningful debate shall be carried on as only one side of any arguement will ever be voiced from here on in.
Please be aware that local media in my area is currently being contacted and I am attempting to secure a slot on RTE radio to make it known to the public what has tranpired on this forum and the frankly childish behaviour of the moderator.
I wish you all well and may god go with you.

They also deleted the entire thread for the earth being stationary. I guess they are equally embarrassed by the contributions of some of the more extremist religious fanatics here as they are of the posts from atheists. Points of view that even in the US would be laughed at but have even less of a place in a more moderate Ireland. I am not surprised as the characters of Redmond and SaintStephen are an embarrassment to the faith as they openly admit they reject any evidence, no matter how strong, if it conflicts with the faith they have decided is true no matter what. They are open to no correction and they admit this openly and often. I hereby withdraw the comment I made on a couple of threads where I praised the moderator for being open minded enough to hear all sides of the issues. He clearly is not and has displayed a weakness of mind and character I had not until this moment attributed to him. Silence all those who disagree. History has indeed seen people of that calibre before. Characters that history has come to hate. I would be ashamed to have acted in this fashion and I hope the next time our moderator views himself in the mirror he suffers from the same level of shame. I note there is now an irishcatholic.proboards56.comfor those who do not wish to exist in a totalitarian "Agree or be removed" state of being.

I for one will miss them. Indeed I rather enjoyed their opinions and never took offence when things got heated. I also believe they too were mature enough not to be offended by what I wrote either. But the boss is the boss. That's life.
The real pain in the you know what are the modernist 'catholic' opinions like the above from hazelireland. Nothing I said was not also held by the Fathers of the Church. your views are of an emptying new Church.
As for the removal of the geocentric thread, I hope that was because it was Inedifix who opened it and they felt obliged to close it with his expulsion.

That’s big of you so say redmond and I'm sure its appreciated.
However the boss is the boss is a bit of a cop-out. This is a forum where opinions are exchanged.
Just because the boss doesn’t agree with certain opinions does not give him licence to totally eradicate all contributions and evidence that these two members even visited the site.
Especially seeing as neither member digressed from the rules of the forum.
Well, that is a point of debate that will only be discussed by the closed house of Irish Catholics Forum now.
Outsiders need not apply.
How Christian......
Not only was that thread removed redmond, but any thread either member made a post on had their contributions completely eradicated.
Shameful.

I do not know how a forum can function in this fashion.
All the catholic users here made posts on those threads too. Some of them spent a lot of time on it. Their posts have also been deleted. This is not fair on them.
Also it achieves nothing. The banned users can sign up again with a different name and post again. Therefore all the users here will suffer again when all their threads are removed, regardless of whether they fit into the totalitarian outlook of the moderator.
Also what is the agenda in doing this? To have only one faith that everyone agrees with without discussion? What is the point in that? You may as well talk to yourself.
For example the slanderous bigot royalosiodhachain was removed from the board. He was clearly a believer with a lot of faith that his belief was correct in all ways. But this extreme was not tolerated either due to his extreme intolerance and slanderous comments about other people.
If the moderator continues to whittle down all the contributions here to the ones that agree with his own personal faith he will only be left with himself to play with. Masturbation is against a lot of catholic doctrine. Surely mental masturbation is too? If this is not pride, one of the deadly sins of the catholic faith then I do not know what is.

Oh, I didn't know that. You mean gone altogether because Inedifix had a contribution? Wow, that's pretty ruthless.
As for the boss is the boss, well that is life. I remember once when the editor of a magazine asked for opinions but refused mine I rang him complaining and he said 'Its my magazine. If you want a guarantee that your opinions get an airing then start your own.' I know how Inedifix feels, and I too was very frustrated but to no avail. Perhaps the moderator will tell us why he did it after letting them go on for some time. Indeed in canonical law - and this is a catholic forum operating under the Catholic ethos - any abrogation must be explained and the reason for it justifiable. How about it Mr Moderator?

Dear Members,
Inedifix has requested the following statement be posted on this thread on his behalf:
Message from Inedifix.
"To my knowledge I have not broken any forum rules. Yet without warning, without explanation, without even the common courtesy of a simple e-mail notification, my entire contribution to this site has been torn down.
Prior to my deletion, I had made a total of 162 posts to IrishCatholics, I had become one of your most prolific posters. Moreover, with that much time and personal energy invested in IrishCatholics, I was not merely an uncomfortable presence, I was a fully fledged 'member' of your community. I now feel violated that my presence has been so reprehensibly wiped away.
In the absence of explanation, I can only assume this is so because the moderator and certain contributors to IrishCatholics feel that their beliefs are too fragile to bear the weight of honest debate.
Is this truly how Christians deal with doubt? Is this how Catholics believe an honest, though dissenting member of their own community should be treated?
If so, then you are all truly lost."
Inedifix

Well said Inedifix. I guess silencing people who speak against you is a common trait for people who realise the weight of evidence on their side is non-existent or the weight of evidence against them is large.
I wonder at the practise of vows of silence in certain sects and organisations. How useful that must be to the people of these faiths. There is no chance that any of them will go "Hang on lads, anyone have any idea what the **** we are doing here???"

It is no surprise to let you know I support CPM's decision. Certainly soon, CPM will tell us what was his motivation. This is a catholic forum dedicated to Catholics. I see this forum (which is one among many others) as a "place" where catholics can discuss their faith. Atheists cannot understand that. This doesn't mean we all agree within us and always congratulate ourselves as catholics ! I have many oppositions and discussions with one or two members here, alaisdair6 and monkeyman. I don't agree as well with lots of what saint stephen, from the States, write sometimes (maybe because he is from the states.... ;D ;D ;D). But this concerns us, catholics. It is OUR issues, our problems. We do have something in common, though, and lot the least. Our faith for our Lord Jesus Christ, our prayers, our devotion to our Lady. We also have in common - for some of us - an interest for the Latin Mass. Atheists have nothing to do with that. Their presence here had always caused a problem. We are catholics dispersed all over the country. This place could be a nice way to express ourselves and discuss things which are for us fundamental, without being annoyed by person in which we have nothing in common.

Hi guillaume, You stated "I support CPM's decision". Well then Sir I must conclude that you agree with the banning of these two members purely on the grounds that you do not like their kind and nothing more. Not really embodying the spirit of Jesus Christ the Saviour there are we? Deleting someone’s membership and their posts (I have a copy of all the posts they contributed to saved as word documents as I had an inkling something like this would happen) without either member breaching the rules of this site and not even giving them the courtesy of an e-mail to let them know of this is NOT Christian behaviour. You stated "Their presence here had always caused a problem." Can you be more specific? How? What rule did they breach? For whom were they causing a problem? Was it You? If so please state that their presence here caused YOU a problem. Three members who have posted here on this thread had no problems with them. Please also state WHY they were causing you a problem if you will. I think that is very important, seeing as they stayed within the rules of the forum. Did they just make you uncomfortable? If they had broken the rules well then fine. Ban them. But why were they removed? I would put it to you Sir, it was because they had a different opinion than the general consensus on this site. Did the moderator ban redmond for discussing geocentrism or saint stephen for bringing up the topic of mastrubation? No. He did not. But when two rational people decide to discuss science and elements of the bible in an effort to get debate going (in which many catholic members participated in I might add!) they are ejected from the site. Sorry guillaume. This is much more underhanded than you appear to let on. Would you be willing to appear on the Gerry Ryan show on RTE Radio to defend your stance to the general public? Their researcher replied to me this morning telling me that this case will be taken into consideration and there is a possibility that it may be the subject of a public phone in. I will keep you updated on the media coverage. In the event of my offer to guillaume being turned down, is there anyone here who is willing to appear on the show to defend the stance of Irish Catholic Forum? If so please PM me and I will let you know what I can. As I have kept all the posts as word documents I am confident that I can demonstrate neither member broke any forum rules and I will present these documents should they be required by the aforementioned researcher at RTE. Thanks.

You completely denied my explanation of what i think of a forum on the internet should be. For people sharing the same faith, except if they come here as somebody in research. Some precedent posts from atheists had been extremely rude, aggressive, and blasphemous creating a scandal for us. I did though had little interesting discussions with an atheist. However this kind of aimable discussion had melted into some kind of aggressive, provocative and deplorable attack against the Church, the clergy and directly or indirectly to God from other ex-members. Regarding an interview to RTE ? ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D no.

Guillaume , Did either Hemingway or Inedifix carry out actions on this forum that were, as you stated above, "aggressive, provocative and deplorable attack against the Church, the clergy and directly or indirectly to God"? If your answer to this is yes please tell me in what instance as I can copy and paste from the word documents I haved saved onto my PC onto this forum. If your answer to this is no, then you have proved my point. They kept within the rules and your argument above is a fallacious one. They may have been atheists but not guilty of the crime you charge them with. Its akin to blaming modern day Germans for the actions of the Nazi regime in the 1930's and 1940's and quite frankly Sir, beneath you. I am disappointed that you do not have the courage of your convictions to defend your stance on public radio and deal with the inevitable questions from listeners. May god be good to you.

Harris, Fair enough, those two lads you mentioned had not been like their predecessors. Another point is where are "the rules ?"... in which thread ? Most of the "serious" forum in the net had written rules. You can consult a great example here : www.websitetoolbox.com/tool/post/apologia/vpost?id=2860339So we should wait for a statement from cpm. And some written rules. God Bless.

If you "LOGOUT" and then click "REGISTER" as if you were signing up as a new user you will see the forum rules. They are the general rules for the entire website of "proboards".
I would guess, although I do not want to put words in his mouth, that it is to these rules that he refers.
