In yesterday’s Irish Times (23 Sept.) there was an article about a new web site set up by ths Irish bishops (www.catholicbishops.ie). It seems an excellent site and I hope, like our forum, it will grow and be a support for Irish Catholics. There are other Irish web sites that our members may find interesting: www.catholicireland.net and www.sacredspace.ie/. Would it be a good idea to let the web master of catholicbishops.ie and catholicireland.net know about Irish Catholics' Forum so that information about us could be put up on their web sites?

The Irish Bishops' site doesn't seem to allow feedback (not surprising I suppose or Inedifix would be in there like a rat up a drainpipe) but I wonder if our new Moderator would consider contacting them (which reminds me that I should change my signature to reflect my happy new sub-moderator status).

Has anyone else had trouble with the catholic exchange website and being able to post messages on the forum there?

Hazelireland,
It is good to hear from you here. You are very welcome.
I had problems with Catholic Exchange, but I think they are mostly resolved now.

Its odd, if I go there and, for example say "Add new topic" it says I must LOG IN to do so.
I then click LOG IN and it just brings me back to the same page over and over saying I must LOG IN.

Have you any reason to think that or is this just the feeling you have?

No no I meant any reason you can show me. I do not know you nor have you provided any reason to believe that you worked on that website like you say.
If you are disparaging the administrators of another forum and allocating to them bad intentions and agendas the least you could do is show your reasons for same?
I would rather not think bad of someone based solely on taking a strangers word for it you know? Its just not polite.
I do not mean to be rude to you in this so my apologies, and I do thank you for your input. I am however forced to disregard it until it can be shown to be true.

Again I thank you for your time and your opinion. Alas it is still just that, your opinion. You have not given me any actual reason to think that this is the correct answer.
But again, thanks anyway.

Yes Im aware of that. However Im not aware that they ban people from the forum before knowing who they are or until they prove themselves.
And if you cant post then how can you prove yourself anyway?
Therefore I cant see how it can be true what you said above.

I thought this was an Irish Catholic forum? There is a debate ongoing here on this forum which appears to have more atheists can Catholics. I think any problems with Catholic Exchange should be discussed there. I don't know that website/ forum so am not able to help.Sorry! Forums do have rules.

Atheists have their own forum but they prefer to come here. Few weeks ago, this forum was invaded by atheists and consequently needed a revamp. After the revamp, one atheist managed to post one post which became now a long long thread. I continue to think than atheists should be banned from here, as they have another forum of discussions and they are always on the verge of anti-Catholicism, anti-church and closed to preach some lies and numerous blasphemies.

Dear Hazelireland, On the profile page of catholic exchange they ask you to give details of your affiliation with religion. If you leave that section blank, catholic exchange assumes you have something to hide and so do not approve your profile. Understood and thanks again for your attempts at an explanation. However it cant be that for two reasons. 1) I didnt leave the section blank that you speak of. 2) I cant get past hitting the words LOG IN. Therefore the website does not even know who it is trying to log in. I could be one of their favorite regulars for all the system knows. So it cant be the website software holding a grudge against me.

Again cant be true. I have access to a lot more than one pc. And I know people who are able to post can go to a random computer they have never been to before and post just fine also.
Also its very rare for anyones computer to keep its IP address the same, so if you were right then a lot of people who can post one day would fail to post the next.
So any idea that they somehow allow access based on computer rather than based on user has got to be false also.
More likely its attached to some kind of issue with versions of IE or Java installed or some such, alas I guess no one here has any idea on that one so thanks all for the help anyway.

Hazelireland, The blocking occurs by IP address and login information from Catholic Exchange as well as Irish Catholic's. I am afraid you are wandering directly into my field. Im IT by trade. I am well aware of how it words. The issue is that the problem happens no matter what PC I am at. If I cant GET to the log in screen and I am at a PC with an IP address I never used before then how you think they are blocking me personally I do not know. Its a fantasy. Also my IP address on my home computer changes daily. Or would you like to suggest that the CE website is blocking the entire vodafone network?

I have become convinced that you are not actually reading what I am writing however I will try it again a little clearer to help you.
Even at a new computer (new ip address) I cannot even get to the screen where you type in your log in details.
Therefore the computer does not know the ip address AND it does not know the log in details. Therefore it has _no criteria_ on which to be blocking users.
Therefore, I am afraid, the explanation you are kindly giving me is nothing more than fantasy.
