Ha, ha, no, it was entirely a compliment! I must admit Star Wars is not my favourite franchise, but it's certainly earned its place in movie history.
Ranger, I keep having problems commenting on your blog. I tried leaving the following comment with Google Plus, but it didn't seem to go through:
O"f course I agree with you, Valentine, and this has been on my mind recently. I don't know if you saw my Facebook post over Christmas (before I left Facebook) in which I confessed that I felt I'd been too much of a cultural warrior in the past and that I was going to try to take a different and more gracious approach in the future. More honey and less vinegar, you might say.
And yet, and yet....I'm intrigued by the fact that there are also extremely passionate denunciations of heretics in the New Testament, and recommendations to have nothing to do with them.
"I know your deeds, your hard work and your perseverance. I know that you cannot tolerate wicked people, that you have tested those who claim to be apostles but are not, and have found them false... You have this in your favor: You hate the practices of the Nicolaitans, which I also hate." (Revelation 2)
"Even if we ourselves or an angel from Heaven should preach to you a Gospel other than the one we preached, let him be anathema". (Galatians 1:8)
"Warn a divisive person once, and then warn them a second time. After that, have nothing to do with them." (TItus 3:10)
It's a difficult balance to strike!
P.S. I had steak for dinner today, and listened to country music afterwards. I would have had Coke, but I'd trying to give up sugary things."
