I was in Veritas today and asked for the BRANDSMA. They said it wasn't in yet. I asked for the most recent issue. They said they didn't have any copies. Perhaps I did not make myself sufficiently clear, but this doesn't sound promising.

Is it possible to have the Brandsma Review by post please. I am down the country and not near a Veritas shop. Thanks, Annie.

Yes - the annual subscription is E20 according to the website though I think it may have gone up again recently. E-mail brandsmareview@gmail.com or write to Peadar Laighleis, 7 Na Plasoga, Cuan na hInse, An Inse, Co na Mhi That's Laytown, Co. Meath just to be clear www.brandsmareview.ie/

Veritas in Dublin have adopted a policy of returning copies as soon as the date on the cover has passed. Since the BRANDSMA has been running a bit behind this meant that the November-December issue was only on display about a week before it was sent back. The Editor is rushing to get the January-February edition out as fast as possible, but Veritas will probably repeat this performance.

The January-February Brandsma Review is now in Veritas. It will only be there in the course of the next week, so if any wants it, they will have to go now.
It wasn't me who wrote these rules.

Excellent, will do.
Just a possible suggestion, I notice that for example, the Sacred Heart Messenger dates itself about 5-6 weeks ahead, i.e. the issue dated March was available from near the end of January.(i.e. in reality the end of January issue is in fact called the March issue). This tactic gives it a much longer shelf life, and in addition it stays current longer for passing onto family/friends to give it an even wider circulation. This idea might suit / help the Brandsma Review. Also if I may be so bold, the title is a bit of a mouthful/off putting to readers not familiar to it, the title is not self explanatory, so the casual reader is never likely to pick it up / pass it on. This excludes a potential audience before you start, which is a shame as its an excellent publication, but for the articles to have wider impact, it would be nice if the circulation increased.

That is a good point. Efforts are being made to bring the BR forward, but that takes time. The last two issues were early than previous ones, but the next few will have to be even earlier.
There is a point about the name. Blessed Titus Brandsma is an excellent patron, but most people haven't heard of him. On the otherhand, the Brandsma Review is out there since mid-1992 which is a lot longer than anyone expected it to last.
The point about the website is well taken, but when you have a lot of things to juggle, you can't always keep your eye on every ball. Well, anyway - on the to do list.

BTW, the annual subscription in Ireland is €21 or £18 depending on which side of the border you live, or which currency suits you.
To save yourself a couple of quid, the soft copy is €15 for 6 issues.
And for postmen who don't understand the official language of the state, the address in the second language is:
The Editor The Brandsma Review 7 The Lawn Inse Bay Laytown Co Meath
In terms of outlets, the BR is available in Veritas in Dublin and Benedictus Books in Cork and also in three churches: St Kevin's, Harrington St in Dublin; Ss Peter's & Paul's, Cork; and Guardian Angels, Newtownpark Avenue, Dublin. Does anyone out there have anymore suggestions as to where it might sell?

Yes. €28 or Stg£23 or US$36 - obviously euro is more convenient. Or for the soft copy, you can subscribe €15 online by credit card on the www.brandsmareview.ie site.

BR still on shelves in Veritas. I notice they didn't notice the price increase and it is still selling at €3.30. It's now €3.50 - and that was on the invoice they got.
So get your cut price BRs in Veritas today.

I picked up a copy, it was actually on the top shelf, half a dozen copies left. The yellow stood out on the stand, very inviting. Is there a rhyme and reason to the colour scheme?
