Attended the Dungannon Mass on Saturday. Very good turnout - about 100. Mostly local so far as I can see though I recognised a few outsiders, myself included. I sat behind a couple with a small child who are from the east timorese community in the town. Old people predominated but not exclusively so - there were some young people present. Very reverently celebrated. Will make some remarks on the church on the "Beautiful churches" thread.

The celebrant at tomorrow's EF Latin Mass in Dungannon is Fr Aidan Dunne, a curate in the parish of Dungannon and an Armagh diocesan priest.

Attended the Ecclesia Dei pilgrimage/Mass/Benediction at the Shrine of St Oliver Plunkett in Drogheda. Always a pleasure to visit that beautiful church, and to look on the face of the martyr who followed Jesus to the end. Reading a book on Edith Stein on the train, which gave a certain resonance to reflections on martyrdom and atonement, and to think of the Archbishops of Armagh from the last years of the penal era who are buried there. Fintan O'toole's witterings on the joys of apostacy in the IRISH TIMES (which I have discussed in another thread) also added point to contrast between the martyr's sacrifice and the present-day casual abandonment of the faith (assisted by the crimes of those who betrayed their vocation like modern versions of Florence macMoyer and Co.) I was near the front (I like to try to hear/see as best I can) so I didn't count; my understanding is there was a decent turnout but it was down a bit as some of the older regulars couldn't stand the heat. The priest in his sermon expounded on Paul VI's sermon at St Oliver's benediction. He also drew a parallel between St Oliver and those TDs who sacrificed their prospects by opposing the iniquitous "protection of Life in Pregnancy" Bill. The red vestments in the colour of blood seemed particularly vivid as our land takes another downward step at the behest of Herod Endipas.

I didn't ask his name and if it was announced I've forgotten it. Sorry.

Mass in Mellifont Abbey will take place on the First Sunday at 10.30 am rather than on the First Saturday at 3 pm as up to now. It is hoped that this will eventually become an every Sunday Mass in Mellifont.

The current issue of CATHOLIC VOICE reports that the Sister Adorers of the Blessed Sacrament (a semi-contemplative affiliate of the ICKSP) have purchased the former Mercy convent in Ardee and hope to move in in the near future. Ardee is in the Armagh archdiocese, I believe. Does this say anything about Archbishop Eamon Martin's attitude to trads, since religious orders are not allowed to move into a diocese without the bishop's permission? Anbarrbuadh notes this development in the "Cooperation between traditionalists" thread elsewhere on the forum.

The ICKSP are "innocent as doves and wise as serpents".

Mass in Dungannon has lapsed as the celebrant is doing further studies at present. There's no report of any activity in Mellifont. Though the female equivalent of the Institute of Christ the King are in Ardee, there is no public Mass there as of yet.
