www.familyandlife.org/Abortion-and-Embryo/2567/8/16.htmlBusy Weekend for Dublin Pro-Life Activities : 8th Dec 11 This coming weekend sees a number of pro-life activities in Dublin city centre. They are organised by a group of friends who have met for years in Saint Teresa’s Church in Clarendon Street to pray for greater respect for the dignity of human life at all stages. Participation in any of these would be a great way for pro-lifers to prepare for Christmas. Sunday December 11th 2011 Jericho Prayer Walk A Sunday prayer walk for the Vigil of the feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe, Patroness of the Unborn: Gathering at Leinster House, Kildare Street at 2.30pm: From 3-6pm: walking in quiet prayer, 7 times around the block to include: Merrion Square, Saint Stephen’s Green and Nassau Street. Participants will pray for public representatives, for Ireland and for protection of the child in the womb. Monday December 12th 2011 Pro-Life Mini Vigil Eucharistic adoration in honour of Our Lady of Guadalupe, at the Blessed Sacrament Chapel, Bachelor’s Walk (near the Ha’penny Bridge). This will begin at 3pm with a guided Divine Mercy Pro-Life Holy Hour, there will be silent adoration from 4pm, followed at 5.15pm by Holy Mass. Candlelit Walk of Solidarity with the Unborn A non-denominational Silent Candlelit Walk of Solidarity with the Unborn to Dáil Eireann. The walk begins at 6pm at the Daniel O’Connell statue in O’ Connell Street and proceeds to the Dáil, in Kildare Street where at 7pm the will be guest speakers to address participants. “ Unto us a Child is Born?...Gone but not Forgotten...”. I received an email from one of the gentlemen involved with the CSP about a prolife vigil on St. Valentine's Day.
"A Uachtaráin agus a Chairde,
just a bit of advance notice to start spreading the news!
St.Valentine’s Day Vigil.
If 14th February is as chilly as (will we ever forget?) the 8thDecember was, we may refer to this as ‘The St. Valentine’s Day Masochism’. We hope it will be as successful as the earlier vigil outside Leinster House. We plan to protest, (at the same time and same place; 2-4 pm outside gates of Leinster House), against the continuing availability of abortion from Ireland’s pharmacies – leading to huge loss of life among the unloved unborn, in violation of Bunreacht na h-Éireann, the extant laws of the land, and the norms of common decency. St. Valentine's Day is during the schools' Mid-Term Break. An all-points-alert is going out to the pro-life community. Bí ann gan teip! We wish to 'theme' this vigil to some extent: 'sweetness and light' rather than righteous indignation. Red heart-shaped baloons (gas-filled), Flowers, Romance, and Valentines, and Love, and Babies (smiley ones, not images of abortion). With some placards too, and banners, to say "Live and let live", and telling the biblical words from Proverbs 24:11,12, in Hebrew, Irish, English, and every other language we can manage. Making ourselves visually interesting may gain us television coverage, and newspaper photographs (worth 1,000 words!). Music and singing (if we can arrange some) might relieve the tedium, lift the spirits, and improve the impact. This big vigil is not an exclusively Catholic event, and nor exclusively Christian either. Anyone may join - anyone, that is, who is not going to cause a breach of the peace! We have an supply of leaflets (complaining about some previous government's decision to license the euphemistically named "Morning After Pill") for distribution to passers-by, and to anyone who enquires 'what is this all this about?'. Now you all have a date for St. Valentine's Day! (And you know what to wear, and what to bring. This is so going to be a happy vigil)." End.

Emphasising sweetness and light rather than righteous anger is a good move. The SWP and their like constantly try to provoke pro-lifers so they can portray us as demented cranks (though even if they fail to provoke us their pals in the media will portray us that way anyway).

This is important - tomorrow www.prolife.ie/events/pro-life-women-standPro-Life Women Stand Up Wednesday 11th April 2012 Pro-life women are urged to join a rally outside the Dáil at noon on Thursday, April 12. A pro-abortion Bill comes before the Dáil the following week, purportedly in the name of Irish women. This is the first ever Private Members' Bill backing abortion. Socialist Party TD Clare Daly and several of her colleagues have tabled the "Medical Treatment Bill", which falsely creates the impression that women in Ireland and being denied necessary medical treatments in pregnancy because of the absence of abortion here. Don’t let them do this in your name! With the "Expert Group" on abortion due to report in July, it is more important than ever that abortion advocates do not succeed in misrepresenting the facts and fooling the public. We strongly urge you to join the rally outside the Dáil this coming Thursday, April 12. It is vitally important for our politicians to get the pro-life message!

Also on EWTN a documentary about Oliver Plunkett this week. I know so little about him, ironic that a Yankee station will teach me a few things.
"Saint Oliver Plunkett - A Journey to Sainthood
Fri. Apr. 27 at 1 PM ET & Sat. Apr. 28 at 5 AM ET
This unique documentary made by a group of local Irish priests and enthusiastic lay people explores the life of Saint Oliver Plunkett, the one time Archbishop of Armagh and Primate of All Ireland, who was martyred during English persecution."

THe talk on St. Teresa Benedicta/Edith Stein was very interesting, though a philosopher would have got more out of it than I have. Quite a wide range of opinions within the Church were represented in the audience, and all benefitted - may the Saint intercede for us all. The Carmelites in Clarendon Street started a Triduum today in her honour, which will end with 12 noon solemn Mass on her feastday, Thursday 9th August, in Clarendon Street. (I think her feast will not be marked in the EF calendar, since it has not been updated to take account of saints canonised since 1962. This is a great pity.) One of the new rather Chagallesque stained glass windows in Clarendon Street is in her honour; you will recognise it by the Star of David and the train tracks leading to Auschwitz.

I went to Mass in the Pro this morning and there was a sign up about a lecture next week on Edel Quinn in St. Saviour's Priory, Dorset St. I think they mean the side steps leading up to the wooden door? Anyway it's at 8pm on either the 20th or 22nd. I rang the church to confirm and the man can't find the schedule right now. Isn't Annie from here in the Legion of Mary? It's an update of how the Venerable Miss Quinn's cause is going. I'll pm Annie to see if she can shed some light.
