Just to remind everyone that a documentary on Coleman "Apparitions" is on RTE TONIGHT at 935. You can also see the doc on rte.ie and certainly later on on youtube or somewhere else. Worth to see it and we can discuss about it later.

I saw this interesting documentary yesterday. It was interesting to know a little bit more mr Coleman. Now, one thing : there is no doubt that Coleman has a strong faith. A faith totally dedicated to Mary. But there is a massive difference between having faith and receiving direct messages from the Mother of God Herself, a direct line. Line nearly opened every day according to Coleman. Due to the mess which occurred during his recent gatherings in Knock, Coleman had became a " persona non grata" within the Shrine. I think he can still visit the shrine as a pilgrim, but cannot gather people with promise that Our Lady will appear. It is still very difficult to believe this person. Knowing also that his revelations are strongly linked to Medjugorge, is not a great help. Apparently, Coleman never worked. Or never worked sweating, suffering and earning his bread. He worked as a "healer" and, I think, even charged 40 euros for a consultation... Not a very holy attitude indeed. He says though that he stopped to charge... Since his revelations began, Coleman seems to be seen in every shrine or holy places in Ireland. However, apparently, the Church herself does not seem to be very impressed. And that is a serious problem for "a messenger" of our Lady. I do not think that Coleman is a lunatic or a bad person. I just think that he has fallen into a spiritual trap and is now in a situation he cannot control. Because in order for his revelations to be approved and taken seriously by many, he needs the help of the Church. Which is not happening. His gathering at Knock had left a total mess into the basilica.

I think that perhaps Joe Coleman does spend too much time looking for signs and wonders in the style of Medjugorde whereas we less mystic Catholics tend to shrug our shoulders in the face of trials and tribulations , pray for the grace to go on and hope for the best. It is wrong in my opionion to build up peoples expecations of supernatural phenomena which are never likely to appear on demand.

This for me typifies all that Irish Catholicism has become. It is so embarrasing all I can say is have a good long read of Matt 16:4. Do I believe Mr Coleman's claims. NO At the end of this documentary, he said "I AM THE TRUTH" and "I AM VERY POWERFUL" Knocks it on the head for me. (excuse the pun : By the way since there was a barring order on him at Knock, I believe that he is headed for Mount Mellary now. Sheesh......

He seems to prtesent himself as a sort of magician who can command visions, rather than a standard visionary to whom the y appear ex gratia.
