Harris has been banned because he said there were no Biblical references to Heaven and suggested the concept was thought up by the Church Fathers centuries after the apostles died. This is not a view which can be held by anyone who has the mildest acquaintance with the New Testament, and the fact that Harris proposes it suggests he is only here to waste our time. I have banned Harris immedately rather than giving him the usual warnings because he acted in bad faith when he claimed to be a liberal Catholic rather than what he clearly is. An honest atheist I can stand; a spoofing sockpuppet deserves no respect at all. I must say I thought better of Harris - I am disappointed. Unexpected but wise move after all. A "catholic" who pretends to read the Bible and see no references to Heaven in it (What about the prayer Our Father Who Art in Heaven ?), while Our Lord Jesus mentioned it many times, as He also mentioned Hell by the way, is weird enough....

Mays I also suggest Hiber, not to allow "guest" to post anything. The Forum needs a revamp. Some threads are far too long (like SSPX in a nutshell). Some post also are far too long : the average reader on the Internet just look around a post of 10 lines, it is a fact. A long post (likely to be a copy and paste) do not attract the average reader.

Thank you for that really insightful and helpful contribution guillaume. As usual you have shown your true colours and reacted with a knee-jerk response. All I can say is I hope you are less judgemental in the future and wait until you hear all the facts before coming to a decision about someone. God bless.......

Harris has been banned because he said there were no Biblical references to Heaven and suggested the concept was thought up by the Church Fathers centuries after the apostles died. I didnt say this at all. Why are you making this up? This is the height of dishonesty and I suggest you look at what I actually posted rather than blatantly being dishonest in what you say. The link to the relevant thread: irishcatholics.proboards.com/index.cgi?action=display&board=heathen&thread=478&page=2This is not a view which can be held by anyone who has the mildest acquaintance with the New Testament, and the fact that Harris proposes it suggests he is only here to waste our time. I agree.... however I DIDNT propose this. Please read the post I made again. Why are you doing such a dishonest thing here Hib? It makes no sense at all...... I too am disappointed that you have chosen to misrepresent what I actually stated which is I could not find an instance where the bible states that those who are faithful to God will have eternal life with him in heaven. I DO NOT claim that heaven was invented by church tradition. Merely that its a possibility that the concept of those who are faithful to God will have eternal life with him in heaven may have came about AFTER the gospels were written down as part of church tradition. This concept is inferred in the bible but not actually explicitly stated in the text. Ban me if you will, but I think I am being perfectly reasonable and honest in what I say. Can you state the same?

Thanks for the suggestion, Guillaume. Only members will be allowed to post in future. This explains why certain people popped up again after I had banned them - I banned them as members wihout realisign they were posting as guests.

Just a reminder. In future only members can post; guests who wish to post must register as members in future. This would appear to be entirely false.

The "Beautiful Escort Girls" thread started by some prankster has been deleted for obvious reasons.

I will be away from the forum for most of the next fortnight and will only be posting occasionally (if at all) during that time. Please keep the conversation going.

Pardon my inexperience - I didn't realise the moderator has to approve new accounts before they can post. I have now approved all pending accounts, except one or two with obviously insulting names. With luck, this should help promote discussion. The usual rules still apply, anyone who breaks them will be kicked off.
