I think we have a time waster here. If anyone wants to have a serious discussion about Catholicism and antisemitism, that's fine. We have extensive threads on the topic. If anyone wants to learn about genuine Catholic teaching and even the darker side of Catholic history, that is ok too. But if someone just wants to throw insults and ignorance at us, we are just better to ignore it.

I have just noticed a level of aggression creeping into the forum over the last few days that I have not seen here for some time. Thank you for bringing this up. I entirely agree. Not welcoming a new member in the welcome / introduction thread, and instead using that thread to pedantically straw man and misrepresent anything they say, make unfounded assumptions about them, and then calling them names when they express any objection, is not really on. Discussions should be focused on the designated subject within the appropriate thread, and the conversations should remain centred around the actual topic at hand, avoiding attempts to shift the focus onto individuals and make baseless assumptions about them or what they post. Recently, another new member also shared their first post, seeking suggestions for their beautiful Marian arts and crafts project. Unfortunately, apart from just my reply they were ignored. If this forum is intended to be a private stale dead echo chamber for a small cohort among its 800+ members, then work away, but perhaps it's best not to allow any new members and waste their time. As an active participant in various international Catholic forums, I had hoped to also contribute positively to this Irish forum with a few posts. I'm beginning to understand possibly why so few of the existing 800+ members now actively engage here, and why there seems to be such a reluctance among new individuals to join. I'm willing to help change that, by posting regular constructive positive articles pertinent to Irish Catholics and get more new Catholic members onboard, or shake the dust from my feet if the initial reaction is representative of the norm.
