Are there any good online resources where documents issued by Irish bishops in the past can be accessed? I'm surprised how difficult it is to find these.
(I haven't looked on Lux Occulta, Shane's website. This is a wonderful resource, but I don't use it because I find it hard to navigate and read. Just a personal quirk.)

You could try "catholicbishops.ie" for recent pieces and the National Library of Ireland, beside the Dáil, for their newspaper archives.

Up until the 60s (if not earlier) the "Catholic" newspapers usually published the full texts of bishops' Lenten pastorals. These should be easily available if your local library subscribes to the Irish Newspapers Online archive. It might also be worth running a search on the names of individual bishops. Until it folded around 1969 the IRISH ECCLESIASTICAL RECORD published the bishops' pronouncements as a matter of course. Major libraries should have it. I think that for some parts of its history the IRISH CATHOLIC also functioned as a journal of record. Not sure how many libraries would have it.
