But these exist independently of Medjugorje, so we don't need the visionaries to tell us what we already know. We do need reminding however. Many people have forgotten or never known the basics of our faith or how to put it into practice.

“What strikes me in Our Lady’s messages is that they are an echo of the Gospel,” Father Laurentin said in 2003. “The messages from Medjugorje do not say anything new; they just repeat to our deaf ears what we have forgotten, what we do not want, or are not able to hear any more: to pray, to have a strong faith in God, to fast, to read the Gospel.” - from the New York Times obituary for the late Fr Rene Laurentin who has died shortly before reaching his 100th birthday on 17th of October. May his gentle soul rest in peace.

It could be argued that those pushing the Medjugorje apparitions have displayed none of these fruits. Patience? Surely if one wants to remain true to the shepherds of the Church, one would wait for their positive approval before advertising pilgrimages as if it was already approved. Prudence? Don't you think that the Bishop of Mostar knows what he is talking about. It would certainly be prudent to follow his advice in my opinion. Obedience? Again, the visionaries have repeatedly defied orders not to promote the apparitions. The apparition also took the side of the Franciscans and threatened the local Bishop, which is not what the real Our Lady would do. Humility? Same thing. Repeatedly disobeying legitimate Church authorities is not exactly what one would associate with humility. Look at Padre Pio or the Divine Mercy promoters if you want obedience and humility in action. So Medj fails on all four counts.

Young Ireland, you have obviously not yet read the whole piece. The quote is from the current Bishop of Mostar.

I have indeed read the whole piece, and nowhere is the the current Bishop of Mostar quoted as saying those words. In fact, it is a paragraph title apparently of Mr. Mallett's own composition.

Indeed, you are correct, sir. PATIENCE, PRUDENCE, OBEDIENCE… AND HUMILITY In closing, it was the Bishop of Mostar who once said: While waiting for the results of the Commission’s work and the Church’s verdict, let the Pastors and the faithful honor the practice of the usual prudence in such circumstances. —from a press release dated January 9, 1987; signed by Cardinal Franjo Kuharic, president of the Yugoslavian Conference of Bishops and by Bishop Pavao Zanic of Mostar That advice is just as valid today as it was then. Likewise, the advice of Gamaliel would also seem applicable: If this endeavor or this activity is of human origin, it will destroy itself. But if it comes from God, you will not be able to destroy them; you may even find yourselves fighting against God. (Acts 5:38-39)

I notice he doesn't mention that the apparition said that the visionaries could read a book on the Index, or that the apparition declared Fr. Vlasic to be innocent when in fact the opposite was true. Or that the apparition threatened the Bishop of Mostar with divine vengeance if he did not return a positive ruling as was the case on the 21st June 1983 ("Tell the Father Bishop (Zanic) that I request his urgent conversion to the events of the Medjugorje parish...I am sending him the penultimate warning. If he is not converted, or will not be converted, my judgment as well as that of my Son Jesus will strike him.").

I am aware of your first point being true but have no knowledge of the other two.
