The further we progress, the more I get a sense of how right Mgr Cremin was in a lot of his predictions.

One point which Cremin was strong on, was that we should look to churches similar to the Irish church experience to see both what to emulate and avoid. He was very firm on the similarity between Ireland and the Netherlands and I believe he said this in class when the Dutch Catechism was published in the 1960s. Basically, that the Dutch Church was in schism and the Irish Church could well follow. Right now, it's the Flemish Church that's striking bold. And the historic similarity between Ireland and Belgium, particularly Flanders is eerie. We probably concentrate a bit much on Wallonia (and France) for linguistic regions, but Flanders is closer to the Irish experience. Wallonia is no model either, despite it being historically held up as such (largely by Cremin's enemies).
